Landing Page design Remake

I've been learning a lot about XD and app design altogether and remembered of a design concept I had come up with a long time ago. It was a design concept about a landing page for the assassin's creed website. I went back to XD to take a look at it as a refresher on my design skills as a beginner.

Remember those screens? I remember the first tie I was done designing this challenge. I was happy as hell that I had done it finally. At this time my head was bubbling with new ideas and features which I saw myself adding to my design to make it cool. I was doing too much, but didn't care. I had the  excitement of finally getting XD and the excitement of finally prototyping a working design. So why suddenly did I decide to redo the challenge all over again?

The Inspiration

When I first did this design, I was excited. But today when I came to take a look for the second time. I cringed. Hard. It was like looking at the baby art I did as a small kid. I guess it was reasonable because I have matured a lot since the first time I touched this design, but still had the "what in God's name is this design supposed to be" look when I took a look for the second time. I wanted to take the same minimal design approach, I took in my initial design but this time make it more cool and not so extra like this one. I knew i was going to get rid of the sidenav and add more detail to the background. I also knew I was going to make Ezio smaller so as not to take up much space for news and all that other stuff. I included social media buttons and carousel indicators to add depth to the site. And finally a news section just to top it up. I didn't intent for a scroll down or slide out menu. just kept everything simple, choosing icons in the place of menu's and not doing anything funny with them. And here's how the design played out
While it's not yet finished but I can comfortably say it's much better than the last one I made. The positive side is that once i finished this I learnt that I was better now than I was a few weeks ago. I also decided to redo the animation especially onboarding and the general screen animation and this was what I came up with.

I'm currently working on it to add new features to it and then maybe I can reanimate it and post it online.
